Talk Description: An introduction to the fundamentals of gardening for pollinators and wildlife, this talk is geared towards novice and seasoned gardeners and homesteaders . Beginning with a discussion of the importance of pollinators and the threats they are facing today, I will move on to tackle native plants (and the best ones to grow in Maine), shelter options for pollinators and other critters, DIY suggestions for bee hotels and butterfly puddling pools, and other key elements every wildlife garden should include. I will round out my presentation with some tips on organic gardening and organic pest control options that are pollinator friendly and eco-safe.
